Wat Phutthaisawan Ayutthaya

Wat Phuttaisawan Ayutthaya

  • Wat Phutthaisawan Ayutthaya is an important tourist location for both historical and architecture reasons. The temple complex is located south of the Chao Phraya River opposite the center of the Island and can be found using the map opposite.
  • Ancient Royal chronicles of Ayutthaya tell us that the Wat was once the palace of the King, U-Thong and was then called Wiang Lek (Fort Lek). U-Thong resided here for 3 years and then converted the complex to a monastery. Many of the buildings here are original and worthy of a visit. One should visit here when also travelling off the Island and to the south side to see Wat Chaiwatthanaram to its west.
