Mandaly Hill Mandalay Myanmar

  • Mandalay Hill is 240 metres high situated to the northeast of the downtown of Mandalay in Myanmar. Mandalay Hill is famous for its large quantity of monasteries and pagodas and has been a main pilgrimage location for Burmese Buddhists for about 2 centuries. The Sutaungpyei Pagoda is at the top of the hill. A spectacular scene of Mandalay from the summit of Mandalay Hill makes it rewarding to go up. There are 4 roofed staircases leading up the peak from the north, west, south and southeast and chairs of brick work line the stairways all the way up. Now due to a one-way motor road leading to a lift and an escalator time is saved and it is also convenient for those people who aren’t able to climb up the stairs.
