Mount Taishan


  • Mount Taishan is the most renowned holy mountain of China, having outstanding scientific, aesthetic, cultural and historical value. Throughout the last 3millennia, people have been  worshiping  the mountain continuously. Mount Taishan is spread over an area of 250  kilometers  at a height of 1,545  meters  above plateau. It’s regarded as among the most beautiful scenic places all over China and since the earliest times, was a main origin of oriental East Asian civilization. Even before 219 BCE, when the Qin Emperor, paid respect to the mountain in the Fengshan sacrifices to tell the gods of his achievement in uniting all of China.  
  • There are 12 historically recorded royal rituals on the mountain to pay homage to Earth and Heaven, roughly 1,800 inscriptions and tablets and 22 temples, which make this mountain the most significant memorial in China, a world-famous treasure house of culture and history.   
  • The main memorial, the Temple to the God of Taishan, has the Taoist magnum opus picture of 1,009 CE. Inscriptions contain the Parallel Stelae of the Tang Dynasty, the Eulogium on Taishan by Tang Xuanzong, the Valley of Inscribed Buddhist Holy Scriptures engraved in the Northern Qi Dynasty and the Han Dynasty stelae of Madam Jin Sun, Heng Fang and Zhang Qian.
  • There are also lots of important and ancient trees including the Five-Bureaucrat and the Guest-Greeting Pine both were planted about 500 years back, Sophora japonica planted 1,300 years back and 6 cypresses planted 2,100 years back.  All the ancient trees, stone inscriptions, in situ sculptures, paintings and architectural elements are in Mount Taishan.
